October 5-October 9, 2026

This week brings economic data, insight into the Federal Reserve’s latest rate decision and more third-quarter earnings. Investors will focus on the September FOMC minutes and consumer sentiment while ,Constellation Brands (STZ) PepsiCo (PEP) and Delta Air Lines (DAL) headline the calendar.

Why This Week Matters

The September jobs report changed the Federal Reserve outlook heading into October. U.S. employers added just 29,000 jobs in September, well below the 90,000 economists expected, while the unemployment rate rose to 4.2% from 4.1%. The report also included downward revisions to prior months, reinforcing expectations that the Fed may hold off on another rate increase at its October meeting.

That puts Wednesday's FOMC minutes in focus. Those minutes from the Fed's September 15–16 meeting are due at 2 p.m. ET and should offer more detail on the debate surrounding the central bank's latest rate decision and how officials are weighing inflation against a cooling labor market.

On the corporate side, Constellation Brands, PepsiCo and Delta will provide insight into the consumer as the third-quarter earnings season begins to build. Applied Digital and Penguin Solutions also give investors additional exposure to the AI infrastructure theme.
