Oct. 25-Oct. 30, 2026
After last week’s AI selloff, Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon report earnings with investors looking for signs that cloud growth can keep pace with the cost of building out AI infrastructure. Their results will put the industry’s spending plans and growth prospects back in focus. The Federal Reserve’s rate decision lands Wednesday, followed by GDP and inflation data that will help shape expectations for the economy and interest rates.

Why This Week Matters
The pressure is on big tech to show that its AI investments are generating enough growth to justify the cost. Alphabet and Microsoft report Wednesday after the close, followed by Amazon on Thursday. Investors will be looking for updates on cloud demand, capital spending and profitability. Intel, SanDisk, Eli Lilly, Robinhood and Caterpillar are also among the companies reporting this week.
With roughly a third of S&P 500 companies due to report, results could help determine whether the recent pullback is a buying opportunity or a warning about stretched expectations.
The Fed's interest-rate decision Wednesday is another important event. Markets widely expect policymakers to hold rates steady, making Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference notable for clues about what comes next.
Tuesday brings durable goods orders, consumer confidence and new-home sales. On Thursday, the first estimate of third-quarter GDP arrives alongside September's PCE inflation data and weekly jobless claims. Friday's Employment Cost Index will offer another look at wage pressures. With inflation concerns and rising borrowing costs already weighing on markets, investors have plenty to look at beyond earnings.
