Why This Week Matters
The macro calendar is not crowded, but Wednesday matters. The June FOMC minutes will give investors a look into how Kevin Warsh and the Committee were thinking after holding rates at 3.5% to 3.75% last month. Tuesday’s trade data and Thursday’s jobless claims will add some texture around that.
The Hormuz story is worth watching even if it is no longer the only thing driving the tape. Reuters reported over the weekend that OPEC+ approved another August output increase as exports through Hormuz continue to recover, but the publication has suggested the reopening is still incomplete enough that tanker flows remain a better gauge than oil prices alone.
On the corporate side, PepsiCo gives the market a read on the global consumer and pricing, while Delta offers another check on travel demand and margin resilience.
