Daily Wrap-Up: Stocks Rebound As Nasdaq Extends Winning Streaks | Oct 9, 2026

The S&P 500 rebounded on Friday, with the cash index advancing 0.60% to 7,811.54. The index finished the week up 1.2%, closing near the record high it reached earlier in the week.

December S&P 500 futures traded as high as 7,863.25 and as low as 7,822.25.

The session concluded above the day’s midpoint at 7,859.00, gaining 42.25 handles from the prior close of 7,816.75.

Next week, market participants can look forward to the release of September’s Consumer Price Index on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by the Producer Price Index on Thursday. Third-quarter earnings season will also gather momentum, with major banks scheduled to report.

Among the top components of the index, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) emerged as the biggest gainer. The e-commerce giant advanced by $8.37, or 3.29%, to close at $262.43 for the day.

That performance was more than five times the cash index’s 0.60% advance.

Conversely, the biggest loser ended up being Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL). For the day, the tech giant declined by $3.78, or 1.11%, to close at $336.64.
