It’s the weekend so relax, put your feet up, and watch a recap of our PreMarket Prep guests who joined us on the show this week with opinions, trade ideas and market commentary.
We have another full slate of guests joining us next week from Tuesday, so don’t forget to tune into PreMarket Prep live every morning from 8 am ET on YouTube and X.
Tim Quast was our first guest of the week. He explained that institutions have been quietly de-risking their equity exposure — a shift you can’t actually see happening, he said, comparing it to turning an aircraft carrier: invisible until it’s suddenly too late.
Tim walks us through the data from his model, showing how equity flows have been declining since June 1, and where that money is actually rotating to instead.
Joining us on Tuesday was Tom Browne, a small/mid-cap Portfolio Manager at Gabelli Funds. Joel and Dennis ask him point-blank whether this is finally the small-cap turn everyone’s been waiting for, or another head-fake.
Blu Putnam joined us for his weekly segment on Wednesday morning. He presented his excellent market and economic commentary on a number of hot topics including, Fed Chair Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech, September rate-hike odds, inflation trajectory, Treasury-Fed tension, long-term yields, and the Yen/BOJ setup.
Todd Gordon, CNBC Contributor and Founder of Inside Edge Capital and long time friend of the show joined us on Thursday to take a deep dive into the energy sector and explains why refiners never seem to fall.
And on Friday, we were lucky enough to be joined by Gordon Johnson, CEO & Founder of GLJ Research. He gave his honest opinion on Tesla’s Cybercab event, or non-event, which took place the previous day in Austin, Texas.
Gordon also gave us his bullish views on the steel sector, adding, “this may surprise your viewers, but we like the steel stocks a lot.”
