Just after the closing bell on Monday, the CEO of Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH) bought 10,000 shares of company stock.

Corporate insiders buy stock for one reason—they think it is going higher. When an executive at a solar company pulls the trigger on the eve of a major national election, a question appears. With solar historically outperforming when Democrats hold leverage in Washington, is smart money positioning for an Election Day surprise?

To some observers, the S&P 500’s three-day slide heading into Tuesday looked like big-tech exhaustion and anxiety over ballooning AI capex. There could be a much larger macro repricing though, says The Kobeissi Letter.

Market-implied expectations for a Democratic sweep of the U.S. midterm elections have tripled over the past 12 months, surging 30 percentage points over the last 45 days alone to approach an 80% probability, according to prediction market data examined by the Kobeissi Letter.

Stock Trader Network Chief Market Strategist Dennis Dick shared the post on X Tuesday, echoing the view that the market’s recent drop is pricing in a potential Democratic sweep. With President Donald Trump already vowing to become “Mr. Veto” if Democrats take control of Congress, Wall Street may pricing in the uncertainty of two years of entrenched political gridlock.

When Washington locks up, institutional money rotates. If a Democratic sweep materializes tonight, traders will be watching whether capital flows toward renewable energy and heavy industrials.

Markets hate uncertainty, which could explain why the major indices have traded in a fog leading up to Tuesday’s vote.

Aside from the Enphase insider buy, Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE) rallied in after-hours trading Monday after signing a memorandum of understanding with California Resources Corporation (NYSE: CRC) to evaluate and target 1 gigawatt or more of solid-oxide fuel cell power generation paired with carbon capture in California.

Even in a divided Washington where President Trump veto’s, state-level decarbonization partnerships and existing grid-power demand give beaten-down solar and clean-tech names a narrative tailwind if Democrats sweep Congress.

Other stocks to watch include power-management giant Eaton (NYSE: ETN), which hiked its full-year 2026 EPS guidance to $13.70–$13.80. DuPont (NYSE: DD) also raised its full-year earnings outlook to $7.47–$7.52 per share.
