Daily Wrap-Up: Manic Monday | Jun 29, 2026

Monday delivered a briefly manic, back-and-forth battle in the S&P 500 index futures, with every sharp swing giving way to a patient, grinding climb from the bulls.

Overnight, bulls kicked off the session by rallying from a low of 7398, and after that initial pop it became a slow, steady build through the rest of the night. The regular session then began above Friday’s high, and once the bulls’ resolve was tested, they kept the rally going.

The tide turned fairly quickly, however, when bears and profit-takers took over. The selloff dragged the index futures nearly back to the overnight low, but buy-the-dippers stepped in and bounced them right back. After returning to the opening range, the bulls resumed their climb, though at a far slower pace than before. The rally pushed to new highs after the lunch hour before progress stalled at resistance at the next psychological level, 7500. The final minutes saw some offers lifted, pushing the high to 7505. The session concluded near the day’s high at 7493.50, gaining 91.75 handles.

Tomorrow, market participants can look forward to some minor macro data in the morning along with some earnings reports in the morning and evening.

Among the top components of the index, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) emerged as the biggest gainer. The AI/EV company advanced by $32.13 or 8.46% to close at $411.84 for the day.

That performance was a fabulous five times better than the cash index’s advance of 1.65%.

Conversely, the biggest loser ended up being Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT). For the day, the tech giant declined by $4.40 or 1.18% to close at $368.57.
